Fast-growing space company builds new headquarters at HCA Airport

Spaceline is constructing a brand-new headquarters in HCA Airport’s business park to support its rapid international growth. The company expects to expand from 15 to 100 employees by the end of 2026.

After several years as a tenant, the Odense-based company Spaceline is now establishing its own 1,000 m² headquarters in HCA Airport’s business park.

Through a combination of sensor and camera data from its own stratospheric balloons and data from other sources – such as satellites – Spaceline can monitor everything from remote land areas to critical infrastructure and endangered ecosystems.

By using stratospheric balloons instead of satellites, Spaceline can conduct continuous, near real-time monitoring over extended periods – at a fraction of the cost of traditional satellite technology.

“Locating our new headquarters in HCA Airport’s business park is a natural and strategic step for us. The ecosystem surrounding HCA Airport and UAS Denmark brings together some of Denmark’s most ambitious players within space, drone, and defence technology. Our new headquarters will not only serve as an administrative hub, but as a unique center for development, production, and operation of advanced stratospheric and space-based systems – right here from Odense. For us, this is not just about building square meters, but about investing in an environment where collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing drive future growth. We are proud to have grown out of this ecosystem and to contribute to shaping its future,” says Nicolai Iversen, CEO of Spaceline.

Growing international attention

Spaceline’s technology has already attracted international attention, and the company expects to grow from its current 15 employees to 100 by the end of 2026. The new headquarters will provide the space and facilities needed to support this significant expansion.

Strong synergies between drones and space technology

The Mayor of Odense, Peter Rahbæk Juel, emphasizes that Odense and Funen have built a strong ecosystem within drones and robotics – rooted in world-leading research at the University of Southern Denmark. Spaceline also emerged from this research environment and maintains close ties to the regional drone and robotics cluster.

“The University of Southern Denmark together with the robotics and drone cluster is the gift that keeps on giving – now also in space. I’m thrilled to see Spaceline’s success with a technology that creates a new link between drones and satellites. Their establishment of a new headquarters at HCA Airport further strengthens the airport ecosystem, which grows stronger year by year. This ecosystem, and companies like Spaceline, will be key contributors to our ambition of creating 30,000 new private-sector jobs,” says Peter Rahbæk Juel, Mayor of Odense.

The Mayor of Nordfyn Municipality, Mette Landtved-Holm, adds: “Spaceline’s decision to build here sends a strong signal. It creates local jobs and demonstrates that Odense and Nordfyn together have something truly special to offer – especially in a world where security and advanced technology matter more than ever.”

Unique framework and collaboration at HCA Airport

From the airport’s perspective, Hans Okholm Vejrup, CEO of HCA Airport, sees Spaceline’s decision as clear proof that the airport – with its strong drone ecosystem and close collaboration with the Danish Defence – is an attractive environment for technology companies.

Spaceline’s new headquarters will be located in HCA Airport’s recently expanded section of the business park, covering four hectares. This expansion was completed in early 2025 and is already fully leased – with Spaceline as one of its new tenants.

“We are delighted to see how Spaceline has evolved from a startup to a scale-up company during its time at HCA Airport, and we look forward to supporting their continued journey. Spaceline’s success also underlines that the synergies between the drone and space industries are significant – and that the facilities and expertise we offer here at HCA Airport are equally valuable to the space industry, Hans Okholm Vejrup says.
